What is Tummy Tuck?

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a surgery that creates slim and flat belly by a restoration of weakened and/or separated muscles and removal of excess fat and skin tissues.

Surgical method

First of all, anesthesia is used for patient comfort during the surgery. In the case of Tummy tuck, general anesthesia is used most of the time.

The incision is made between a belly button and the pubic hairs. Its shape and length are determined by the amount of excess skin and fat tissues and the experience of the surgeon.

After the incision is made, the abdominal part of the skin is lifted to allow the surgeon to repair stretched abdomen muscles.

In most of the cases, a second incision is made around the bellybutton, but if there is no so much excess skin, this step can be passed.

The abdominal skin is pulled down and the excess of the skin is trimmed. After that, the remaining skin is sutured together and a new opening for the belly button is created.

The navel is popped through the opening and sutured in the right place.

The final step is to suture the incision.

The recovery will be finished in 2 weeks after that the client can go back to her/his daily life. If all post-surgery recommendations are followed, the final result will be seen in 6 months. In overall it will be a firmer and flatter abdomen with tight skin.
