WHAT IS FACIAL FEMINIZATION SURGERY?

Facial feminization surgery is used to soften masculine-looking facial features into a more feminine one. It is applied for transgender women, non-binary trans people, cisgender women and everyone who would like to have a more soft and gentle look. Because each person’s face is different there is no universal surgery method that will fit all the clients. During a consultation, a surgery plan is carefully tailored for each person. This is the procedures that most likely to appear on the list:

Forehead contouring

Most of the time forehead contouring is done by trimming the brow bone to smooth heavy masculine-looking forehead. In some cases, for example, when the forehead is sinking, an implant or fillers can be used to create a more voluminous feminine shape. Recently the Fat graft is also used for these purposes. Implants, fillers and fat grafting can be used along with bone shaving.

Hairline change

As its known male and female hairlines can differ a lot due to some particular male features as “widow’s peak” boldness (receding hairs on the temples creating a v-shaped hairline). Also female in general have a smaller forehead with a smooth hairline. Thus in most of the cases, hairline lowering surgery is applied to create a more feminine appearance. And sometimes the hair thickness of the hairs on the top of the head should be enhanced using hair transplants.

Nose feminization

Male noses are mostly bigger and have different proportions comparing to female ones, thus the usual nose surgeries that are done during mtf transformation are reduction rhinoplasty, alar reduction, and hump reduction. Even if these surgeries are mostly the same as the usual nose jobs, it is important to choose a plastic surgeon who is experienced in feminization rhinoplasty, to create a more feminine looking shape and slope.

Cheekbone, square jaw, chin reduction

Bone shaving surgeries are the most common ones in case of facial feminization due to the image of a manly face as a more angular and heavy one. And the cheekbone-jaw-chin reductions are the most common bone shaving surgeries. They are used to reduce the protruded bones of the lower part of the face and create a softer outline. The major rule for girly face is “fewer angles — more feminine”, and these 3 surgeries create a smooth and flawless v-line face shape!

Lip lift

Also known as Philtrum reduction surgery — is the one that adjusts the distance between the upper lip and the alar base. This distance is shorter on the women’s faces than on the men and the surgery can easily change that, Also the lip orientation can be changed, which means that its shape can be changed from a flat “down-looking” masculine one into more upward curled feminine one. With the addition of some lip fillers, a client can get a puffy, voluminous, completely girl-like lips.
